In some cases the problem may be linked to organic causes rather than a mental illness. Organic causes simply means a medical problem such as thyroid disorders, neurological impairments, chemical or hormonal abnormalities, vitamin deficiencies, or liver and kidney problems, to name a few.
New clients complete an intake questionnaire, and possibly an assessment tool, through the secure patient portal. Depending on your presentation, specific assessment tools may be used to gather information that targets the areas needing the most focus. Laboratory tests and collaborating with your primary care practitioner may also be beneficial.
Time to understand you
The initial assessment is typically between one and two hours, because a comprehensive assessment deserves time. Starting with a good foundation and the right information ensures we are on the same page and share expectations.
Once your assessment is complete, we discuss your treatment goals and plan your pathway, which may change throughout your treatment, and that is perfectly okay. Welcome to your journey. You've got this.
