Meet your provider
Dr. Lori Weeks
DNP, MSN, PMHNP-BC, MBA
Hi, I'm Lori. I'm a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner, raised in the South—where kindness, good manners, and making room at the table for everyone were simply how things were done.
My path here has been a full one. I'm a mother first. I've spent more than 23 years in healthcare, from the fast pace of critical care to executive leadership roles. During the COVID-19 pandemic, I traveled across many states to care for patients when they needed it most. Those years taught me how much people carry—and how much it matters to be truly seen.
I'm also a trauma survivor. I know what it means to need someone who listens without judgment, and that's the kind of provider I strive to be.
When you come to me, I'll take the time to understand your story, explain your options clearly, and make decisions with you, not for you. My goal is simple: thoughtful, evidence-based psychiatric care that feels human.

My approach
Every person is unique, and so is their care.
By actively listening to your goals and incorporating mindfulness, we develop an evidence-based treatment plan that enhances your quality of life. I treat patients across the lifespan and have deep experience with diverse populations, including minorities, LGBTQ+ individuals and college students.
Person-centered
You are the expert on your own life. Care begins with you telling your story, in your words, and is shaped around your goals.
Collaborative decision-making
Treatment options, benefits and risks are discussed openly so every decision about your care is one we make together.
Non-judgmental
A calm, safe space where you can be honest. You deserve to feel validated, heard and valued, every single visit.
Evidence-based
A non-traditionalist by nature, grounded in evidence-based practice and current clinical guidelines.
The whole person
Connecting the dots: the whats, whys, whens, hows and the nows. Mind, body, history, culture and everyday life.
Inclusive care
Experienced and affirming care for minorities, marginalized communities, LGBTQ+ individuals and college students.
Prescribing With Care
My Approach to Benzodiazepines
Your safety and long-term well-being guide every prescribing decision I make. Benzodiazepines—such as alprazolam (Xanax), lorazepam (Ativan), clonazepam (Klonopin), and diazepam (Valium)—can offer real relief during times of acute distress. With ongoing use, however, they can lead to tolerance, physical dependence, and withdrawal, which is why the FDA requires a boxed warning on all medications in this class.
- Short-term use only. When clinically appropriate, I may prescribe a benzodiazepine for a short period, typically up to 2–4 weeks, as one part of a broader treatment plan.
- I do not provide long-term benzodiazepine treatment.
- Already taking a benzodiazepine? Please don't stop suddenly—stopping abruptly can be unsafe. I will carefully review your history and, depending on your situation, may offer a gradual, supervised taper or help connect you with a provider for ongoing care.
- Tapering is gentle and collaborative. Any taper follows current evidence-based guidance and moves at a pace adjusted to how you are feeling.
- Safe prescribing practices. These include reviewing the state prescription monitoring program, using one pharmacy, no early refills, no replacement of lost or stolen prescriptions, and drug screening when clinically indicated.
- Effective alternatives. There are evidence-based options for anxiety, panic, and sleep, including non-habit-forming medications and supportive interventions, and I will explore them with you.
This policy isn't about withholding care—it's about protecting your health and helping you find lasting relief. I'll be with you every step of the way.
